Five design trends for 2027, and the material behind each one

We matched the leading material and colour forecasts for 2027 with the wall coverings we manufacture. Five directions stand out, each carried by an Artmur panel. They are only a glimpse of what we will show at booth 138.

01

The seamless curve

Flat walls and right angles are giving way to arches, columns and rounded headboards. At the latest Salone del Mobile in Milan, flowing lines and sculptural forms were everywhere. Wood is following suit, as long as it bends with the curve instead of breaking it. Where a rigid panel falls short, a flexible wall panel makes the difference.

BoisFlex, our flexible wood panels, keep the real grain of the wood in a thickness that hugs a column or a curve, all the way to a full wood slat wall.

02

Relief that absorbs sound

Open spaces are appealing, right up until they start to echo. Gensler's workplace research makes the point: noise and distraction remain among the biggest barriers to focus. Acoustics are no longer a hidden fix. They're becoming a design statement: fluted walls, slats and vertical relief dress a room while calming it, in offices, in restaurants and at home.

Acoustique Pro pairs a slatted relief with a felt backing that absorbs echo.

03

Raw mineral

Concrete, stone, matte plasters: mineral surfaces are the defining texture of 2027. The eye looks for depth and a grain that catches the light, rather than a smooth finish. Stone is reclaiming a prominent place in interior architecture, as long as it is a real material and not a print.

BétonFlex is made from real rock dust (travertine, marble, cement) and resists both water and fire. To go further, explore our selection of decorative stone wall panels.

Translucent green

04

Translucent green

Green is here to stay in our interiors: among the key spring/summer 2027 colours revealed by WGSN and Coloro is a calming green drawn from nature. In 2027, that colour goes beyond paint. It comes through material and light. The glass block is back, dividing space without closing it off, letting daylight flow from one room to the next and adding a translucent touch of colour to a bathroom, a kitchen or a restaurant.

The bottle-green glass block brings botanical depth and emerald reflections. It dresses a shower, a kitchen partition or a wall that filters light in shades of green.

Warm, sensual accents

As a counterpoint to neutrals, warm tones are returning: burnt orange, terracotta, chocolate browns. WGSN and Coloro also place an energetic orange among the key colours of 2027. And according to the annual 1stDibs survey of 468 designers, chocolate brown leads the colours designers expect to use, while upholstered walls keep gaining ground. Velvet is leaving armchairs to dress walls and create a soft focal point in a reception area, a bedroom or a bar.

VelvFlex offers a velvet-touch surface that catches the light, right down to its warmest rust shades.

Ismael Loudiyi, the designer behind the walls

Founder of Artmur and designer of its wall panels

In Montreal, Ismael Loudiyi designs decorative wall panels and acoustic panels conceived as true architectural elements. Every collection starts with an observation: a trend spotted at trade fairs, in material libraries or in designers' projects, then translated into material.

His work brings two perspectives together. First, the artist's eye, which picks the texture, relief and shade that tomorrow's interiors will call for. Then, the engineer's rigour, which turns that intuition into a dependable product: a lightweight panel, quick to install, able to follow a curve and to resist water and fire when the project requires it.

Designers, architects and developers find the same balance of aesthetic signature and technical rigour, from private homes to spaces for Lacoste, Moxie's and nienkämper. That is the conversation he is continuing at booth 138: materials, installation and budget, in front of a real wall.

« I design every panel around the trends, then make sure it delivers on site. »

Interview

Three questions for Ismael Loudiyi ahead of Expo Design 2026

An interview with Ismael Loudiyi, founder of Artmur.

Q.

Why does Artmur want to be at Expo Design 2026?

Because a panel has to be judged in person. Even the best photos can't do justice to a rock-dust travertine or a velvet. At Expo Design 2026, visitors can run a hand over the material and see the grain under the hall lighting, unfiltered. That's often where a designer makes the call.

Q.

What will visitors discover at your booth?

Five materials that sum up interior design in 2027: flexible wood for curves, acoustic panels that double as decor, rock dust for raw mineral surfaces, bottle-green glass blocks to play with light, and velvet for deeper accents. They will be shown side by side, backed by real projects such as Clinique One Skin. In thirty seconds, a designer can compare travertine and concrete under the same light. When you're building a palette, that's invaluable.

Q.

Any advice for a designer or architect preparing their visit?

Come with a wall in mind: a reception desk, a headboard, a backsplash, a curved column. It's far more useful than looking at panels in the abstract. If you have your drawings, bring them: we can start talking installation and budget right away. Our technical specifications will also help you prepare. And no appointment is needed: just stop by booth 138 and we'll take the time to talk about your project.
