Century 21 x Profusion

A brand built on trust, advice, and relationships that last. Century 21 reimagined its space to welcome clients differently, a project we're proud to have been part of.

The space leans into quiet, professional elegance. Real wood finishes from our Acoustique Pro collection dress the office and meeting room walls, mounted on absorbent felt. Nothing flashy, just real materials, carefully installed, that also do real work: they calm the echo, soften conversations, and keep every exchange discreet. Because in real estate, a conversation is best held quietly.

The result: a warm, composed space where the grain of the wood sets the tone, and the quiet puts clients at ease.

The best acoustic panels to reduce office noise

Open-plan was supposed to bring teams closer together. In practice, it mostly brought the noise closer. Overlapping conversations, ringing phones, chairs rolling on hard flooring: sound bounces off every wall and no one can hear themselves think. Acoustic panels fix that: instead of letting sound ring around the room, they absorb it. And for an office, the best panels are the ones that bring the noise level down without turning the space into a padded cell.

The short version. In a workspace where people spend their whole day, aim for a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of at least 0.75. NRC is the average of what a surface absorbs across speech frequencies (250, 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz), on a scale from 0 to 1 (Acoustical Surfaces). A panel rated at 0.80 absorbs about 80% of the sound energy hitting it. That's the point where you really hear the difference: less reverb, conversations that no longer carry across the floor, meetings you can follow without straining.

The material matters too. Wood slats mounted on recycled PET felt (that's how our Acoustique Pro line is built) give you real absorption from the felt, plus a warm wood face that fits into a corporate space without looking out of place. PET felt is made largely from post-consumer plastic (think water bottles), so it's a practical choice if recycled, low-VOC materials matter for your project or certification. One detail people often miss: a small air gap behind the panel improves absorption at low frequencies, the kind that come from HVAC and equipment hum.

Noise at the office isn't just uncomfortable: it costs you. Studies on workplace environments show that noise and lack of sound privacy are among the top sources of dissatisfaction in open-plan spaces, with a direct effect on concentration (Gensler Workplace Survey). You don't need to cover every wall, though. Generally, you target the large reflective surfaces: meeting room walls, collaboration zones, high-density floors. Want a layout plan? Frequently asked questions

It depends on the room's volume and noise level, but for a workspace you're usually looking at 15 to 25% of the wall surface, and sometimes the ceiling. In a meeting room, treating two adjacent walls is often enough to break the echo; on an open-plan floor, you spread the absorption across the large reflective surfaces. Best approach: send us the plan and we'll calculate the quantity.

Aim for 0.75 or higher. NRC is the average absorption across the four main speech frequencies, on a scale from 0 to 1: a panel at 0.80 absorbs about 80% of the sound hitting it (Acoustical Surfaces). Our Acoustique Pro panels sit between 0.75 and 0.90 depending on the finish and how they're mounted.

Mainly echo and reverb within the same room: they improve speech clarity and lower the ambient noise level, not how much sound passes through a partition (Second Skin Audio). Blocking sound between two closed rooms (soundproofing) is a different job that needs mass and sealing. On an open-plan floor, the issue is almost always echo, and that's exactly what absorption solves.

Yes. Noise and lack of sound privacy are among the top complaints in open-plan spaces, and they hurt concentration directly (Gensler). By absorbing reflections, you lower the ambient level: conversations carry less far, video calls sound cleaner, and the floor becomes more livable.

Our panels are tested to CAN/ULC-S102, the Canadian standard for surface burning characteristics (flame spread and smoke development), referenced in the National Building Code of Canada (UL Solutions Canada). That's an important point for buildings open to the public. The PET felt is made largely from post-consumer recycled content and is recyclable at end of life.

Both, when they're built right. The absorption comes from the felt behind the slats; the wood face gives you the look. A slatted wood surface over acoustic felt reaches high NRC values while still fitting a high-end corporate design, a long way from the foam tile.

Yes. Slat-on-felt panels are light and mount cleanly, with little dust and a quick install. We schedule installation across the Greater Montréal area around your business hours to keep disruption down. Depending on the scope, a single room is often done in one to two days.

Order samples first to see the finish and feel the felt. Then send us the floor plan: we'll put together a quote, the quantity, and the install schedule. Panels ship in 2 to 5 business days; custom sizes in 4 to 6 weeks.
