Wood slat wall: warmth and texture

A wood slat wall warms a room, gives it rhythm and depth. At Artmur, the slats are real wood, not imitation: oak, walnut, black ash, white. Species that age well and blend with the rest of the décor.

Two families, one gesture. Our slats mounted on felt dress restaurants, offices and studios with real presence. Our decorative BoisFlex slats, flexible, wrap a straight wall or a curved column, for the love of the material. In commercial spaces, both meet Canadian fire-safety requirements.

Frequently asked questions

It's a wall covering made of thin real-wood slats, evenly spaced, usually mounted on a backing (felt or a flexible panel). The play of shadow between each slat creates relief and a warm effect, very sought-after in interior design. At Artmur, two options: the felt-backed slats of the Acoustic Pro Collection (décor and sound absorption) and the decorative BoisFlex slats, thinner and flexible.

It depends on the model. Slats mounted on high-density PET felt (Acoustic Pro) absorb up to 90% of the sound energy that hits them in speech frequencies, with an NRC coefficient between 0.75 and 0.90 depending on the reference. By contrast, a painted drywall partition has an NRC below 0.05. If the goal is mainly aesthetic, the BoisFlex range is enough. If the room echoes, go with Acoustic Pro.

Natural oak, light smoked walnut, black ash, white, with black or white felt depending on the look. Each species has its grain and tone: oak for light, walnut for warmth, black ash for contrast. The best is to order a sample to judge the material in hand, under your own lighting.

Living room, bedroom, entryway, headboard on the residential side. Restaurant, office, meeting room, reception on the commercial side. The flexible BoisFlex slats also fit a round column or a curved wall. One caveat: very humid rooms without ventilation (sauna, shower) are not suitable for real wood.

On furring strips or with adhesive, depending on the surface. Installation happens after electrical and painting, ideally before the furniture. In Greater Montreal, our team offers a turnkey service: measuring, layout, installation. Outside the area, we provide detailed installation instructions and work with your contractor. Allow 1 to 2 days for a standard wall.

Dry dusting with a vacuum (soft brush) every 2 to 4 weeks, and a lightly damp microfiber cloth for occasional marks. No harsh chemicals. PET felt resists UV and doesn't yellow. One-year product warranty from delivery.

Yes. Our panels meet the CAN/ULC-S102 standard on flame spread and smoke for interior finishes, a requirement of the National Building Code for public-use establishments. Technical documentation provided on request for projects submitted to an inspector.
